For Tara Peirce, the real estate bug started early with a desire to learn all she could from her parents, father a real estate developer and mother an interior designer. Little did she know that her curiosity would turn into a successful full-time career in residential real estate and home staging. When she isn't out finding clients their dream homes, you can catch her staging beautiful rooms or enjoying time with her family.
Discover what shaped Tara into the mother, wife and real estate professional that she is today in this week's Meet the Agent.

How did you land in a real estate career?
My father was a real estate developer and my mother was an interior designer so I have been around architecture and design my entire life. It was very clear that real estate and design would be a part of my career. I love homes, I love people, I love design. It was a no-brainer for me to be in real estate.
What were you doing previous to real estate?
I was fortunate enough to be at home with my kids for 14 years and had 2 online businesses. A midwifery supply company and a home school supply company.
What is your favorite part of working in real estate?
First and foremost, the people. I love the relationships that I form and the puzzle of finding the right house for the right person and how excited they get. I also enjoy the homes and design.
What is one thing you literally could not do your job without?
The staff at Badger Realty. I always tell my clients that I can work hard for them because the staff works hard for me. It's a team effort.
What is the best advice you've ever been given?
Take it one day at a time. Don't get too stressed about the future. Problem solve and stay in the moment.
What is one piece of advice you'd give to a new real estate agent?
Ask questions and constantly talk to your managing broker.
What was one of your most defining moments?
Coming to Badger Realty. Making that move and trusting that it was the right move for my family and my career.
Who in the industry has made the most impact on your professional journey?
My dad and Brenda Leavitt (Managing Broker). My dad has so much experience that he has shared with me. He's developed shopping centers, neighborhoods, sold real estate and bought real estate. He tells me things as we are chatting that I didn't know and is an awesome resource. Brenda makes me aware in a way that I know she has my back. She truly wants to see me succeed.

Tara's talent for seeing a diamond in the rough shines thru in this Before & After of a recent staging project.
What neighborhood do you live in?
The Village of Fryeburg, Maine.
What do you love most about your neighborhood?
I can walk to the Fryeburg Academy, music, theater and great food. Medical resources are very close too and the Fryeburg Fairgrounds are accessible year-round. We have trails right behind our house. I really love where I live.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
The Oxford House because of its walkability and delicious menu.
Describe your own first home.
I was 23 in Little Rock, AK. My 3 girlfriends and I couldn't find a place to rent. {Laughing} No one wanted to rent to 3 young girls. My dad suggested buying a home. The house I bought was adorable… 3 bedrooms, hardwood floors, a deck, fenced in yard in the old part of town.
What is the first big-ticket item you bought when you moved into your first home?
That's a tough one because honestly I was the original DIY'er. My mom and I refinished and refurbished everything. Lots of elbow grease. We made a beautiful home and it was stunning. Antiques and shabby chic.

The Peirce family having a fun getaway to New York City
You have a full day free in your town with no obligations and cost is no object. What do you do?
I'd go to the Soaking Pot in North Conway with some girlfriends or see a play at one of the local theaters. I really like being with people. A hike with a friend or water painting at my house would be fun.
How do you start each day?
Hide from my teenagers. {Laughing} I sit at the breakfast bar in our kitchen with a cup of tea and check in with my kids as they get ready for school.
What do you read every single day?
Contracts. {Laughing} I love looking at Pinterest too. I post on my Pinterest account everyday (Sold By Design North).
What is your proudest achievement to date? Personal or professional.
Definitely my kids. I'm proud that we are a tight family with good relationships.
If you won the lottery what kind of property would you buy?
Something on Peaks Island (Maine). Maybe waterfront. Something with one level which is tough to find on Peaks. I just love the Maine coast.
What are 4 words clients would use to describe you?
Personable • Present • Fun • Available
Words your family would use to describe you?
Crazy {Laughing}. They are teenagers. My husband would say that he appreciates that family is important to me, a good mother, fun, and optimistic.
What did you eat for breakfast today?
A fruit smoothie.
If you could have one super power, what would it be?
I'd want to end world hunger… is that a super power? {big smile}
If you could become the number one expert in one niche field, what would it be?
A redesign specialist - I like the turnaround. The before and after. I love the thrill of the change.
